38 Weeks
Not feeling so hot. Decided it was time to pack the bag for the hospital. Despite reading numerous packing lists…this is the hardest packing job ever. Nothing seems right. Seems absolutely impossible to be prepared!
ETA: Nothing is happening. Just getting prepared. (They told us in birthing class to pack at 36 weeks).

Baby Book HELP!!
Has anyone found a baby book they absolutely love?
As part of our journey into adulthood, we recently purchased a new kitchen/dining room table with the hopes of starting a tradition of dining around a table instead of how we’ve spent the last eight years with plates in our laps on the sofa.
This morning two large Eastern European men arrived to deliver the table. As I wrote a check for the balance remaining on the table (who knew places...

Just signed up for the “meet and greet” with the neighborhood pediatrician that is being held on the evening of my birthday.
Bette
When I started blogging again a few months back, I decided to resurrect the name of my decade old blog with the hope of reposting some of my favorite posts. Reading this beautiful post from Mamalina reminded me of a post I first wrote on 10.13.2005 about my grandma Bette. In light of this post and Mother’s Day, I’m reposting that entry here today.
I can distinctly remember when I...
I’ve started writing a series of letters to the little man in a moleskin. It’s mainly a collection of all the hopes and stories that have been floating around my mind during the last 33 weeks. Each entry I start with hopes of profundity and then it all becomes so tangential and filled with digressions. The good news is that if I ever decide give it to the little guy - perhaps when he...

Padding my nest
When I first learned I was pregnant, I made a conscious decision to not get hung up on the baby’s due date - that whenever this little guy made his arrival would be fine by me. I had witnessed the frustration of more than one friend when their baby didn’t arrive on his due date.
Lately, however, I’ve been facing this overwhelming feeling that this little guy is going to make...
Well, I had certainly hoped that I would be posting here more than I have to date. When I hit my third trimester a few weeks ago, I was slammed by wicked insomnia. Luckily, that soon passed and now I want to sleep ALL THE TIME. I have been reluctant to post simply because I know that my story is not unlike that of others in their third trimester and why not save my whining for those truly...

30 WEEKS!
And since I hit my 3rd trimester I feel like I’ve been hit by a Mack truck. I’m so happy Ted and I conquered the nursery a few weekends ago. The baby is tap dancing all along my insides. I feel like I’m lead singer in a cover band playing the old classic “pregnancy”. I know. I know. You’ve all heard this song before.
Today I went to see my doctor for my 29 week check-up. I also had another ultrasound as my anatomy scan at 20 weeks revealed that our little guy had a slightly enlarged kidney. At that time, we were told not to worry as this was quite common in baby boys who tend to be (surprise, surprise) more lazy than girls and hold their urine longer than the opposite sex. Still, they wanted to check...

That was the summer where the words "BUNNY KILLER"...
Foster’s post in the Village Voice today, reminds me of a incident that happened back when we were still living in Minneapolis.
I was walking my dog one spring afternoon when I heard a neighbor abruptly yank open a window from the second story of his home. Suddenly, a rifle of some sort appeared and I watched as he quickly fired off a shot in the direction of his vegetable garden. The shot...
Wiped
Spent the last three days working on the nursery and spring cleaning. Bags of donations have been filled for the Salvation Army.
Today was spent power cleaning and trying to find new places to store all the things we moved out of the nursery on Saturday. I’m certain I’ll be hurting tomorrow and regret overdoing it but I went with the momentum. Things are growing more difficult and...
Georgie Girl: My Due Date Has Arrived →
Today is my due date.
I am 40 weeks pregnant. Nine months.
I honestly didn’t think I would see this date. I thought she would be here by now.
Every day I wake up wondering if today will be the day that I meet my daughter. Every night I wake up at least 5 times wondering if that was a…

Received this offer in my inbox this morning from the online boutique Polka Dot Peacock and thought it was worth sharing - although admittedly this will be the first order I’m placing with them so I’m not yet able to vouch for the company personally. That said, they have a great website and I love an opportunity to save 15% and thought some of you might too!
Orders over $500 qualify...

Word to you Mothers
Moms, when dispensing your assuredly well meaning advice (solicited or otherwise) to pregnant women, please think about what you are saying and how you are delivering it. Please be aware that what worked for you doesn’t necessarily work for every woman and certainly not for every unpredictable baby.
Before I even learned I was pregnant, I was determined that once I became a mother my...

Anticipation!
I absolutely love reading all these tumblrs written by new and expecting mothers. Seeing them with their new babies makes my heart feel like it’s expanding and about to explode right there in my chest.
In other news, I saw some commercial today about teenagers getting their driver’s licenses and I started to feel nervous about the little guy driving. Yep, that’s right, the...
Petit Collage →
While I have about a million things to buy for the baby before I start investing in wall art, I am absolutely loving the prints and mobiles from Petit Collage.
In particular, I’m loving this Animal Alphabet print and this Jungle Animals mobile.
Our little guy is due to arrive almost to the day of the fifth anniversary of our move to New York and while we left Manhattan for Brooklyn last year, this is the longest either of us has been in one place since college. When we moved to Brooklyn last summer, it was also the first time since college that we allowed ourselves to purchase a piece of furniture that arrived via a furniture delivery...

Don't even get me started on the Mac 'n Cheese.
Since moving to Brooklyn last July, I haven’t found myself missing the old neighborhood all that much except when it comes to BBQ. After trying both Smoke Joint and Dallas Jones BBQ, I can state without hesitation that neither place can even come close to Dinosaur BBQ. God, I miss that place.

New Lost Tonight...
It promises to leave so many questions unanswered.
Seriously. Each week I tune in hoping for an episode full of revelations. Instead, I spend an hour mildly entertained and no closer to understanding what this show is about. I’ve read a few of those blogs aimed at deciphering the series and I’ve yet to find one that actually seems to get it. It’s pretty amusing actually. ...

Seriously.
Oooh, which one of these modern torture devices should I register for? The one with the messenger bag or the purse (luckily, both give a whole new meaning to the idea of an “over the shoulder boulder holder”).
I get that these are designed to be less conspicuous for breast feeding working mothers but does anyone actually look at the purse and think “Oh CUTE! This is...

"I think he's sorry."
Really, tabloid guy? Thanks for your OPINION!
This is what I get for watching The Today Show.
This whole Jesse James/Sandra Bullock thing turns my stomach. Sandra Bullock wins an Oscar and less than two weeks later the tabloids dredge up some trash (don’t even get me started on the forehead tattoo) who admits to whoring it up with a married man.
It’s the angle that really...
