Perpetual State of Flux

Oh man, Doree’s reminder about various Fisher Price memorabilia was an absolute day maker. (And day elongator, because I just spent like 15 minutes perusing Fisher Price on Google Images instead of working on Work.) 

This little house was good times great oldies, tho I sure am glad I’m not a kid now because WTF is this abomination? The Little People have gotten all choad-ish! (Ahem.) Don’t even try to talk to me about choking hazards or whatever because as far as I’m concerned toddlers today could use some character-building danger in their lives.

This is all kinds of awesome. 

I LOVED LITTLE PEOPLE as a child.  Many of my friends had this house or the Little People McDonald’s.  We had a barn and an airport BUT the most awesome piece of our Little People collection was a castle complete with trap door and a moveable staircase that exposed a secret passageway. 

As I anticipate the arrival of my first son, I’ve done a few preliminary walks through the toy aisle of Target and I have to say that while many things have improved with age, toys these days are supremely lacking.

And while I spend my days easily persuaded by the merits of organic crib mattresses despite the hefty price tags they carry, I also know that my mother has a storage unit full of our old toys. What’s a girl to do?  All I know is that that trap door and secret passageway are pretty damn cool.
